Summer Fours League

Our Summer Fours League is designed to get you lots of playing reps in a competitive and fun format.

  • For players in 5th grade and above

  • Teams are made up of 4-6 players.

  • One position sets, two positions pass/attack, and one position plays middle back defense.

  • Players on a team can decide to rotate through these positions or specialize (rotating is most fun!).

  • If more than 4 players show up on any given day players will rotate in. Nobody will be "benched"–everyone will have the chance to compete and play each night.

  • If you have fewer than four players on a given night, you will have the option of picking up a player from the 'work' team.

Players can sign up with or without a team. During registration you’ll be able to request up to five teammates. If you don’t have anyone to request (or less than a full team), no worries, this is very common and we’ll work to match you up with players of similar skill.

The format of the league is one giant ‘ladder’ where you will have the chance to move up to a stronger court or down to a less strong court after each session, based on your record. If you feel your team is strong for your court, excellent, get the best record for the night and you’ll move up. If you feel your team is a little out of its depth on your court, no problem, if you have the fewest wins, you’ll be on an easier court the following session.

We are big believers in the value of the 'game teaching the game.' The focus of this program is lots of competitive play as opposed to drills and skill instruction. Included in the program each player will receive a Boston Youth Volleyball shirt.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

“I met Scott recently, when my three children attended the grass clinic at Oak Hill. He is an excellent communicator and organiser and is incredibly encouraging with the athletes. Lucas I have known for a few years both as the Varsity coach for my older children and SMASH U12s coach for my youngest daughter. Lucas is more than an excellent coach; he takes the time to get to know each athlete and provides support specific to their needs. Ruby has thrived from her opportunity to start playing at 9 years old, developing a strong skill set and growing into a driven athlete. For me, the most important part is that my children have learned the life skill of being part of a team through working with Lucas.”
